ATHLETICS NEW ZEALAND RECORD APPLICATION PROTOCOL

 

Non-Resident New Zealand Athletes

 For New Zealand athletes living overseas to be eligible  to claim a New Zealand record  they must be registered  either by: 

  By direct registration to Athletics New Zealand.

  Or registration with an Athletics New Zealand Centre and Club.

And it is their responsibility to:

  Complete the paper work.

  Forward application(s) to Athletics New Zealand within two calendar months of the performance.

 

Athletes Travelling Overseas to an International Event  

 For  an  athlete  travelling  to  a  major  International  event  such  as  the  Olympics,  an  IAAF  Championship,  the Commonwealth Games, an Oceania Area Championships or an Australian Championships.

 

  Any record(s) achieved will be taken from the official results. 

 

Athletes Travelling Overseas as an Individual   

For an athlete travelling overseas as an individual it is their responsibility to:  

  Obtain a New Zealand Record application form.

  Complete the paper work.

  Forward the application(s) to Athletics New Zealand within two calendar months of the performance.

 

Athletics New Zealand Championships 

 

At New Zealand Championships:

  Any record(s) achieved will be taken from the official results.

  The above condition will also apply for overseas athletes who may better an all-comers record. 

  Centre Records athletes should consult their Centres.  

 

Note: the above will also include other events organised and run by Athletics New Zealand such as Grand Prix and the World Athletics Tour. 

 

Athletics New Zealand Centres 

 

Centres are responsible for the following:

  Having copies of the current Athletics New Zealand application forms.

  Completing the paper work for records in the Centre district, not covered in the above paragraph,   and ensuring it complies with By-Law 2.4 (Records). 

  Forwarding the application(s) to Athletics New Zealand within 30 days of the performance. 

 

Information for Centres: 

-  If a Club or Sub-Centre runs an event on behalf of the Centre, the responsibility lies with the Club or Sub-Centre to ensure that all aspects of the competition comply with the Athletics New Zealand Competition Rules and By-Laws. 

-  Record applications from such events are the responsibility of the Centre. 

 

Information for Centres and Individual applying for Records:

-  Up-to-date Records/Rankings can be viewed on the Athletics New Zealand website.

-  Record application forms can be down loaded from the website.

-  On completion record applications must be sent by mail within 30 days, or 2 calendar months for a performance outside New Zealand, from the date of the performance to:
